Well, it is time to welcome myself and friends to my blog. I can remember when people were telling me about “blogging”, and now look where I am. Hey, I even figured out FACEBOOK!
I have been thinking for months about what I should write. I have read many other blogs, and am still wondering! I have decided not to worry and let the topics arrive naturally. Just as I approach painting, an idea, play with it, and let the process unfold.
I am anticipating questions on techniques in the book, and thought that the blog will be a great place to answer questions that come up on a repeat basis.
Also, music, dogs, acrylic, painting, yoga, books, and the usual daily things that we all think about.
One BIG promise, I will keep it SHORT! And highly VISUAL!
Please check out the book: Rethinking Acrylic: Radical Solutions for Exploiting the World’s Most Versatile Medium at Amazon.com, and let me know what you think!

Am anxiously awaiting your book. Why will it take Amazon 2 to 4 weeks to ship after it is published? TX

Chris,
I just got some very excited calls from friends who have the book in their retail stores! So, I am not at all sure why Amazon would take that long. Take another quick look, and see if the delivery dates haven’t been up-dated. Let me know what you think, when you get the book. And thanks much.

I love the book. There is a great ratio of words to pictures. I have even read some of the words. The world needs a book that has high end artwork with techniques that stimulate the most jaded painter.
Rock On Patti.

Lindsey, So glad you like it! I wanted the paintings to be fabulous, but also give artists some acrylic chops that they could chew on!

Hey Patti!
Congrats on your new blog. As a blogger myself, I can tell you that it is now on my list of things to do, sigh…… but it’s fun and I feel like I’m talking out loud (mostly to myself). Although my students tell me they read it. I think Nancy Reyner has a terrific blog too! Happy blogging!
P.S. are you going to join me online for my first live Webinar? It’s Sat. Feb 21 at 12 noon PST. Check it out!
Happy holidays to you and Phil!

I just read your book, Rethinking Acrylic, from cover to cover. It is a fabulous compilation of great techniques, cool ideas, and beautiful paintings. Thank you for writing a terrific resource. I am proud to be included, and will heartily recommend the book to all my students.

I happend upon your book at the store and it is awesome! I have been experimenting with acrylic similar to some of the techniques in the book and I was so happy to have a little guidance. Thank you so much! Acrylic is an awsome medium to “play” with.

Dear Patti
While doing my Christmas shopping in a quaint little book shop in Southern Maine I came upon your new acrylic book! They only had one copy.
You see - I already have Nancy Reyners and Rheni Tauchids acrylic books but I had never seen yours. They are both “yummy”!
I have been a visual arts teacher for over 20 years and I scour tons of catalogs and resources all the time for my classes. I usually buy my books through Amazon but, when I saw the only the one of yours they had - I was willing to pay the extra to have it RIGHT THEN and THERE….all I can say is WOW! You are the first one to really cover the digital grounds and transfers well. THANK YOU
I teach high school foundations and drawing and painting classes,I teach an adult ed acrylics class too….people love this stuff but they are intimidated. This book will be another tool in my bag for students. Thank you.

Hi there Patti… I am writing from all the way downunder (New Zealand) and have only today checked out the Golden website and found you. I am a fan of Nancy Reyner’s artwork and I am now very keen to grab a copy of your book (which I will source from Amazon). I love the energy you create with your artworks. I am a self taught artist painting for some six years now and am always keen to explore more in depth the acrylic and gel mediums. I have also only begun to paint with Golden (unheard of here in NZ until fairly recently)! I have a question and I am sure you can point me in the right direction….. where, oh where do I find a template (stencil) like the one you use in the Golden video? I am about to attempt to make my own but this will take some doing! Thank you for your art and your inspiration (I shall be taking myself back to my studio now that I have my mojo back)! Bye for now - love reading your blog by the way.
